Distilling: Filey Bay Core Range – The First Look

The Next Chapter – Our Moscatel and STR finishes first launched in 2020 – Now five years later and approaching our tenth year of production, we’re welcoming these two releases into our core range.

The New Filey Bay Core Range

A core range, for us, is whisky that is ready and available all the time, so you can enjoy them all year round, just like our first core release Filey Bay Flagship. It’s a big leap forward and one that is only possible after building up stocks of casks over many years.

So what’s new?

Both of these new core expressions are now integrating a high proportion of whisky that is both older, has been fully matured in ex-Moscatel Sherry Hogsheads and/or STR ex-Red Wine Casks.

Bottled at a higher strength of 47.3%. They’re richer, fuller, and all around more complex than their predecessors, Moscatel Finish Batch #4 and STR Finish Batch #4. You will also notice all three whiskies in the core range have a new look.

Filey Bay Moscatel Sherry Cask

Elegant Spanish sweetness meets spirited Yorkshire character. This whisky is fully matured in ex-Moscatel Sherry Hogsheads, creating a soft, sweet, and complex profile.

Tasting Notes: Citrus, honey, milk chocolate, toasted nuts, and apricot. 47.3% | 70cl | £65

Filey Bay STR Red Wine Cask

Shaved, Toasted, and Recharred (STR) ex-Red Wine casks bring a balanced and nuanced maturation to our light, fruity distillery style.

Tasting Notes: Soft and malty with flavours of biscuit, marzipan, boiled sweets, and red fruits. 47.3% | 70cl | £65
